Strete Barton House Information

Description

16th Century Manor House hosting bed & breakfast, in the heart of Strete village, near Dartmouth, South Devon. Panoramic views across Start Bay to Start Point Lighthouse and the mouth of the river Dart. The location is ideal to explore the South Hams, including the award winning beaches of Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands, Slapton Ley Nature Reserve and the South West Coast Path. Situated close to Dartmouth, with Torcross, Slapton and Salcome nearby, Strete has two restaurants, one Michelin rated. Strete Barton House has been sympathetically refurbished with a mix of contemporary and Eastern classical art, luxurious French sleigh beds (including a super-king size four-poster), Egyptian cotton bed linen, silk bed furnishings, featherdown pillows, fluffy white towels, television with DVD/CD player, iPod docking staion/radio alarm clock, extensive beverage tray, mineral water and luxury toiletries. All bedrooms are spacious double size, one with twin beds. The guest drawing room is filled with sofas and armchairs and an open fireplace. On arrival all our guests are served a cup of tea or coffee and homemade cake in the sitting room or on the terrace overloooking the sea and extensive garden. Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden. Full English breakfast is offered using local ingredients, fresh home made fruit salad, poached plums, home made jams and marmalade, local farm yoghurts, cereals and local bread. Spacious rooms, Inglenook fireplaces and a walled garden with far reaching sea views.

Accessibility

All guest bedrooms at Strete Barton House are located on the first floor. To gain entry to the house there are three low steps to the front door. From the ground floor to the first floor there is a staircase which has 15 steps (gentle rise)with a handrail/bannister.

    On the A38 Plymouth Expressway from Exeter follow all signs for Plymouth.Take the A384 signposted Kingsbridge Dartmouth & Salcombe Reaching Totnes pass under an orange metal walkway bridge, get into right hand lane & turn right at traffic lights onto A381 signposted Kingsbridge & Dartmouth. Follow Kingsbridge signs until you reach Halwell turn left signposted to Dartmouth 200yds after reaching Dartmouth Golf & Country Club turn right sign posted Strete Slapton and Torcross, proceed to Strete
